Aiolian city Aigai (12 Aiolian League, Herodotus) on Yunt Dağ volcanic plateau 400 m above Gediz (Hermos) plain, 38.817,27.188, 40 km north Manisa. Athena Temple c.300 BCE Doric on terrace with Attalid stoa (Pergamon benefaction), agora 80×40 m 3-storey stoa, bouleuterion, theatre 10k and macellum — best Aiolian city after Kyme and Pergamon. Atatürk University Yusuf Sezgin excavations 2004–. Unlike coastal Kyme/Smyrna, Aigai shows inland Aiolian pastoral-wool economy with goat transhumance and Pergamene royal road control. Quarry inscriptions 700+ stones. UNESCO Tentative Aiolian Cities 2019.
