About Atlantis on Santorini Mega-Tsunami Claim – Second Santorini Pseudo
After Spyridon Marinatos 1939 Santorini–Minoan Atlantis hypothesis (moderate: Minoan Crete impacted by Thera 1600 BCE tephra), pseudo extension 1950s–2010s by James Mavor, Charles Pellegrino, Galanopoulos & Bacon (1969) proposed 100–300 m megatsunami that drowned 'Atlantis central city' on Santorini inner island. Cores McCoy 2017: Thera tsunami 9 m at Palaikastro Crete, 21 m at Anafi, nowhere near 100 m; Knossos survived ash but not Atlantis central. Santorini's Akrotiri is Bronze town preserved under tephra, not Atlantis capital — separate database entry sybaris? Akrotiri already in database. Included to distinguish moderate Thera impact from mega-tsunami pseudexcess.
Why it mattersScale exaggeration — 9-m moderate vs 100-m mega how 10× inflation turned archaeology into Atlantis.
