About Band-e Ashura — Shushtar Gargar Outflow Regulator (Ashura Weir)

Outflow regulator weir (8 m high, 95 m crest) on Gargar Canal 2.1 km downstream of Band-e Gargar–Darian Canal head (already in DB as band-e-gargar-canal) at 45 m elevation. Regulates Gargar outflow back to Karun before Ahvaz, maintaining 7-m head at Shushtar millraces (32 ancient mills). Sasanian Shapur I foundation with Safavid 1650 basalt wing repair and Qajar 1840 crest raising 1.2 m. Outflow via 3 sluice gates 2.5 m wide with wooden gates (replaced steel 1932). Distinct from band-e-mizan, band-e-gargar, band-e-kaisar — this is downstream regulator new. UNESCO Shushtar serial 1315 downstream component.
