About Casa Grande Village — Pima Ancestral Great House Compound

Casa Grande Village is a 60 ha Hohokam Classic compound village surrounding the Casa Grande Great House (NPS monument) excavated by T. Lyman Hayward and later E.W. Haury. Village compound 1350 CE adobe-walled enclosures with platform outlier, canal laterals 8 km to Gila River, and Great House 4-story caliche core 1350 CE astronomical walls. 700-year continuity from Snaketown Pioneer Pioneer founders to Casa Grande Classic collapse.

Why it mattersAlongside Snaketown and Pueblo Grande proves Gila Basin 700-year irrigation continuity; direct ancestry of Akimel O'odham.
