Densely gridded Classic Maya metropolis (c.350–650 CE) on the arid northwest Yucatan henequen desert edge, with 79 architectural quadrangles, 15 × 30 km urban sprawl 30,000 people at 300/km² density, apsidal residences, market architecture and 13 causeways. No cenote dominance — rainwater impoundment and savanna wetland adaptation. Excavated by Bruce H. Dahlin and by Traci Ardren 1994–2015; produced acropolis 18 m high, ballcourt, and savanna chultun system. Largest western Yucatán classic city before collapse.
