About

About Dobrovody

Dobrovody (Dobrovodi) — Cucuteni-Trypillia BI mega-site (c.4100–3700 BCE, 150–250 ha, 700+ houses, up to 16,200 estimated inhabitants per 2014 research) west of Dobrovody village, Cherkasy, on loess promontory above Sinyukha tributary. Tomashivka local group, second phase. Geomagnetic survey (Kiel–Kyiv) revealed circular plan, ring-corridor, 26×46 m mega-structure (1,196 m²) in ring corridor dated 3890–3720 cal BC, burnt daub houses, perimeter ditch. One of five SBDI megasites 150–340 ha (Nebelivka, Dobrovody, Chichyrkozivka, Talianki, Maydanetske). House intervals ~70 years, planned radial streets.

Why it mattersFive largest SBDI megasites — 16,200 cap estimate tests pre-urbanism without hierarchy
