About El Fuerte de Samaipata Annex
Annex 60 m south of great rock table (220×60 m sculpted sandstone) at UNESCO El Fuerte de Samaipata (1998): terraced annex with 15 Inca-style niches, kallanka great hall 22 m long, and Chané jaguar sculpture channel. Rock table bears 30+ carvings including Inca-Casma feline and pre-Inca geometric channels covering 5500 m². Amazon-Andes ecotone at 1950 m.
Why it mattersUNESCO World Heritage frontier temple blending Chané Amazonian rock carving with Inca architecture at Andes-Amazon threshold (only Inca rock temple in east).
