Hasanlu is the great Iron Age walled city south of Lake Urmia — Hasanlu IV (1100–800 BCE) citadel with columned halls, ivory workshop, and violent destruction by Urartian (?) sack c.800 BCE preserving 250 skeletons including the famed 'Hasanlu Lovers' embrace, the Golden Bowl with banquet scene and ivory furniture. Robert Dyson's University of Pennsylvania expeditions revealed the fortified gate, Lower Court palace and ivory hoard.
