About Horslip Long Barrow
Cotswold-Severn long barrow 1 km southeast of Avebury henge, built c.3750 BCE. The 40 m mound with transepted chambers was partially excavated by John Thurnam (1859) and later by Ashbee, yielding four skeletons and Beaker sherds. Located within the Avebury World Heritage Site landscape, it forms part of the outer barrow cemetery around the henge alongside West Kennet and East Kennet.
