About Hoysaleswara Temple Halebidu
Hoysaleswara (1121–1160) – Hoysala double shrine (Shiva Hoysaleswara/Shantaleswara) on jagati platform with Dvikuta plan: stellate (star-shaped) 16-point vimanas, lathe-turned chloritic schist (soapstone) friezes of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavata in 5-register bands, 108 Nandi and dancers. Unfinished due to Delhi Sultanate sack, it marks Karnata soapstone carving zenith; Sacred Ensembles of Hoysala UNESCO 2023.
