Jebel Barkal north necropolis at foot of holy mountain's pinnacle rock: 11 pyramids (Bar.1-20, 10-15 m base, 70° steep) with chapels for Meroitic kings and queens who retained Napatan sacred geography even after capital moved to Meroe. Excavated by Reisner (1916) and Timothy Kendall. Bar.2 (Amaninatakilebte) has preserved chapel reliefs. Jebel Barkal temple B500 of Amun at mountain foot. Mountain's pinnacle was believed to be uraeus of Amun. UNESCO World Heritage Gebel Barkal.
