About Panaztepe Harbor Town
Panaztepe is a 3.5 ha Late Bronze Age harbour citadel on a former Gediz estuary island excavated by Armağan Erkanal since 1985. Heavily fortified EBA–LBA sequence (3000–1200 BCE) with Mycenaean LH IIIB imports, tholos-like chamber tomb with intact bronze and amber, and stamped pithoi evidencing Ahhiyawa–Hittite trade. Metallurgical furnaces and loom weights show textile production.
