Westernmost Khmer sanctuary, laterite Historical Park 43 km west of Kanchanaburi on Khwae Noi, built late 12th cent under Jayavarman VII as outpost marking Khmer empire's western limit towards Burma. Four laterite prangs (Monument 1–2 excavated) with Avalokiteshvara lintels, laterite Historical Park gazetted 1987, connected by western Highway branch to Phimai–Angkor road.
