About
About Qaryat al-Faw
Capital of the Kinda kingdom straddling the Wadi ad-Dawasir caravan route, where Saudi–German excavations uncovered a limestone temple to Kahl, residential quarters, a dam and thousands of Sabaean–Nabataean–Palmyrene inscriptions. Tomb art shows a man on a winged horse and fresco banqueters in Parthian dress. Qaryat al-Faw flourished as the frankincense road hub linking Najran, Hegra and the Persian Gulf before its 4th-century abandonment.
