Sechín Alto in Casma Valley (Ancash): huge U-shaped platform compound 300×250 m, 44 m high, with atrium and sunken courts. Excavated by Julio C. Tello (1937) and Pozorski-Fuchs (2000–): largest Initial Period structure in Americas (2000 BCE) dwarfing Caral. Adobe platform with room-fill. Subsidiary mounds LA1-5 and cemetery. Nearby Cerro Sechín lito-bas-relief walled fortress with warrior carvings. Casma-Sechín polity built giant platforms before Chavín. Isotopic study shows maize-beans diet.
