About Stavgard Ringfort (Gotland)
Pre-Viking ringfort (fornborg) on Gotland's southeast, circular limestone wall 80–100 m diameter enclosing 0.5 ha, with inner house terraces and Iron Age ceramics. Dated c.400–800 CE by finds, it is one of Gotland's 15 Iron Age forts controlling southeast parish. Located inland on a low limestone ridge above Burs, it illustrates Gotlandic segmentary defence without central kingship, possibly used as refuge during Migration Period unrest.
