Intact Chenes palace at Tabasqueño with renowned zoomorphic portal: doorway transformed into gaping earth-monster mask with stacked Chaac masks and ear assemblages (INAH). Structure 1 preserves vaulted chambers and 5-step pyramid substructure. Access from Km34 Highway 269 via 2 km track; largely unexcavated Chenes outlier exemplifying Rio Bec-Chenes-Puuc mosaic.
Why it mattersOne of finest preserved Chenes zoomorphic facades illustrating Chenes-Puuc transition and Itzamna monster-mouth theology.
