Tell Jemmeh (Tel Gamma) in Southern District, Besor River, Israel is a Late Bronze – Persian (1400–400 BCE) tell of Philistine–Assyrian tradition. Besor river Assyrian administrative centre of the Gaza hinterland. 1400 BCE, the site forms a stratified mound/karst tell 12 ha, assyrian governor's residence 40×30 m, granary. Excavations since the mid-20th c. expose assyrian mudbrick palace with granary, philistine bichrome, egyptian scarabs architecture with diagnostic ceramics, lithics and administrative finds.

Archaeobotany and radiocarbon anchor the sequence, informing regional Philistine–Assyrian networks across the Southern District. Threats include agriculture, military activity, erosion; research continues on Philistine–Assyrian chronology.
