55 ha roadside city on Carthage–Theveste road, Thuburbo Majus displays 2nd–3rd c boom financed by olive and grain riches. Highlights: Capitolium podium 35×10 m (168 CE), Petras formation forum porticoed on three sides, Temple of Baalat (Caelestis) turned church, Temple of Peace, vast Summer Baths (3,800 m²), Winter Baths, palaestra with Corinthian porticoes, Mercury temple over forum tabernae, and House of Neptune with chariot mosaics. Commodus colonia 167 CE; Hadrianic municipal upgrade; bishopric 3rd c. Intact drainage and latrines. Less visited twin of Dougga.
Why it mattersExceptional small-city example with two complete bath complexes and Caelestis syncretism (Punic Tanit → Roman Juno Caelestis).
