Phoenician factory 6th c BCE to Roman colonia Claudius 46 CE, Tipasa merges three epochs on pine-covered cape between Chenoua mountain and sea. Two parks: Western Park has Phoenician tombs, mausolée circulaire, Christian basilica of St Salsa (patron saint thrown to sea, 4th c martyrion with mosaic), Great Basilica (7 aisles largest in Africa 58×42 m) on cliff; Eastern Park has curia, theatre, nymphaeum, baths and forum friezes. Off-shore islet Roman port now reef. Juba II's Royal Mausoleum nearby. UNESCO + national park. Camus essay Le vent à Djémila to Tipasa.
