About Unfinished Northern Pyramid of Zawiyet el-Aryan

Huge unfinished pyramid of Baka (son of Djedefre, 4th Dynasty short reign c.2565 BCE) 200 m base planned (largest ever after Khufu), with enormous T-shaped trench shaft 21 m deep ×12 m square base, granite floor blocks undisturbed. Superstructure never built beyond trench. Enclosure 465×420 m with mudbrick mortuary temple. Ovoid sarcophagus lid intrusive Late Period. Discovered Barsanti 1900–05, re-surveyed Maragioglio. Military zone restrictions limited access. Largest known pyramid foundation trench and T-shaft in Egypt.
