Xochicalco Mountain in Morelos, Mexico is a Epiclassic (650 – 900 CE) ancient city attributed to Central Mexican Epiclassic culture. UNESCO 1999. Observatory cave with 6-month solar 30 cm beam. Pirámide Quetzalcóatl Teotihuacan-Maya serpent synthesis. Abandoned 900 CE. Systematic excavation and published survey document stratified deposits, architectural phasing and georeferenced plans. Built c.650 CE; purpose: Defended ridgetop city and observatory after Teotihuacan collapse. Significance includes multi-phase occupation and landscape setting at 1770 m elevation.
