About Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove
Osun-Osogbo is the 75 ha sacred primary high forest along Osun River (buffer 47 ha) Yoruba goddess Osun's abode, UNESCO 2005 criteria ii, iii, vi. Contains 40 shrines, 9 Yoruba orisha shrines, and Susan Wenger's 1950s New Sacred Art — 12 monumental sculptures including 12 m Osun Seated and concrete column forest by Wenger & Adebisi. Annual Osun-Osogbo festival (12-day) draws 100,000 devotees. Last remnant primary forest in southern Nigeria with 400 plant species and mona monkey.
