About
About Paititi — Paratoari Pyramids at Manú Alto Plateau (Paratoari Norte)
Paratoari pyramidal hills promoted as Paititi north variant on Alto Madre de Dios plateau north of Paratoari river, where 1996 Gregory Deyermenjian SERC satellite photos showed two pyramidal hills 150 m base with flat tops and causeway-like ridge 2 km bridging them under forest. 5 m levee for palm swamp drainage 900 CE. Claim persists in occult press but UNESCO-Manu archives classify as natural mesa plus pre-Columbian field system. Treated hypothetical: mesas natural, field levee cultural but not pyramid city.
Why it mattersTests Paititi-Paratoari pyramid meme: mesa morphology proves natural truncated cuesta; levee proves pre-Columbian field agronomy not city causeway; separates mesa geomorphology from field archaeology conflation.

Mysteries & theories
Mysteries
- 01Are 150 m mesas dressed with stone facing under forest? — no exposure
- 02Is 2 km ridge causeway vs field levee vs natural levee?
Theories
- 01Paratoari levee is Alto Madre de Dios palm swamp drainage field 900 CE, not Inca road
- 02Mesas were beacon signal hills for Alto field system not pyramid platforms
Theories are interpretations, not findings. The seal above tells you how much scholarly weight the place carries.
History
How it came to be
- Built
- natural Cretaceous sandstone mesa; levee if cultural c. 900 CE field system
- Period
- Hypothetical Late Horizon (?) natural Meso steps + pre-Columbian field field 900 CE
- Culture
- Hypothetical Inca pyramid city (unvalidated) / pre-Columbian field field culture
- Purpose
- Paititi north pyramid hypothesis — mesas as pyramids vs natural truncated mesas and palm drainage levee
- Abandoned
- field levee 900 CE maybe abandoned with Manú flood shift; mesas never built
- Rediscovered
- 1996 Deyermenjian satellite pyramidal hills; 2001 Neuenschwander mesa ground truth; 2010 SERNANP field levee mapping
- Excavation
- Unexcavated
