About Quseir al-Qadim — Central Roman Warehouse Harbour
0 m in Quseir bay mangrove-fringed central basin behind reef. The basin is 75 m × 55 m with a coral-rag quay 30 m, warehouse complex 22 × 14 m stacked with Dressel 2–4 amphorae, Indian rouletted ware and teak dhows fragments, and a Customs House with Papyri-style ostraka (tax on pepper). 0 m due to reef accretion and Wadi Ambagi wadi flash, sealing Trajanic floors under mangrove peat. Excavations by Chicago Oriental Institute–Southampton (1999–2003) dated the harbour to Augustan foundation and documented the Quseir Nile road via Wadi Hammamat porphyry quarries and Coptos.
