About Suyab (Ak-Beshim)

Sogdian–Turkic Silk Road capital (c.6–12 c. CE) at Ak-Beshim in the Chu Valley — 35 ha walled shahristan (650×560 m) with Buddhist temple complex (two temples 50×30 m with clay Buddhas), Nestorian Christian cemetery with syriac-inscribed gravestones, and Turkic khagan palace area, plus outer rabat with caravanserai. Founded as Sogdian merchant colony Suyab (Suiyè) of the Western Turkic Khaganate (6 c.), birthplace of Li Bai's family lore, later Karluks and Qarakhanid; excavated 1953–74 by L.R. Kyzlasov and Semënov. UNESCO World Heritage (Chang'an–Tianshan Corridor, ID 1442-008) with Krasnaya Rechka/Navkat and Burana/Balasagun as Chu Valley Silk Roads triad.
